Tamara Babiuk (she/her) has designed and managed complex conflict mitigation, democracy, human rights, communications, and economic growth projects in Europe, the Caucasus, the Middle East, and Africa for multiple organizations, including the U.S. Agency for International Development, State Department, the International Organization of Migration, Ruder Finn, and Chemonics International. She leads Dexis’s Center for Global Security and Stabilization and long-term positioning, thought leadership, and partnering strategies to expand in new markets. Prior to Dexis, she led USAID programming in Eastern Europe, and launched the Development Solutions Group at Chemonics International, which brought together experts across the company in testing and sharing new ways of meeting sustainable development goals. As an adjunct professor for Georgetown University’s Center for Social Impact Communications, she designed and taught a master’s-level course on applying strategic communications to international development.

Advice to Students:

Be authentic to yourself. Follow your interests and take classes you’re curious about even if not what you planned. It will open up doors and widen your career and academic experience. Rejoice in your classmates and spend time doing what you enjoy. There are multiple pathways to the job you envision.
