New York, NY
- BA, Political Science, Vassar College
Rori Chuck (she/her) is the Associate Director of Major Gifts at the American Civil Liberties Union’s NYC-based National Office, where she oversees a portfolio of 150+ donors and helps secure five- and six-figure commitments nationwide as part of the Leadership Gifts team, a group responsible for raising more than $100M+ annually. Rori’s work centers on building partnerships with funders who care deeply about protecting our civil rights and liberties, including core issues like immigrants’ rights, freedom of speech, bodily autonomy, and fair and free elections. Before joining the ACLU, Rori held fundraising roles in higher education, including at Vassar, where she began her development career as a President’s Administrative Fellow in the Office of Advancement. Rori holds a BA in political science from Vassar. At Vassar, she held positions on the VSA and participated in the Transitions program as an FGLI student. Outside of nerding out over the Bill of Rights, Rori sings in a Brooklyn-based community choir, is working towards her spin instructor certification, and enjoys walking her one-year-old Yorkie, Teddy.
Advice to Students:
Build your own ethic of goodness and be as true to it as you can possibly be. The kindness that you give, both to yourself and those around you, can help open doors and shape your career (and life!) for the better. Ask yourself: What is the kind of life you want to build for yourself? What is the kind of world you want to live in? How do you treat yourself when you fail, forget, or flounder? What impression do you want to impart, not just on those who can do something for you, but on everyone you meet?
