Piper Yang (she/her) is a Senior Software Development Engineer based in Minneapolis, MN. She has over six years of experience working as a developer in the technology industry, having been at Cisco before her time at CVS. Her development work mainly consists of backend programming in Golang, with a recent focus on cloud-based resource provisioning and API construction. During her time at Vassar, Piper was both Chair of the Computer Science Majors Committee and the Computer Science Department’s academic intern. She was also fortunate enough to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration for Women in Computing in 2017 and 2018 (both as a student and as a scholar), through which she received her offer of employment post-graduation from Vassar.
Advice to Students:
Try anything and everything that interests you. College is a unique time in life where you can learn without consequence, so take advantage of it. Take risks, make connections, and don’t let the fear of failure hold you back. Try, fail, and try again. You’ll learn more from these mistakes than you will from any “easy wins.”
