Olivia Kane (she/her) took part in the Vassar/Columbia 4+1 degree program and is a recent STS alum from Vassar (Class of 2024) and an MPH graduate of Columbia University (Class of 2025). She currently works at NYU Langone Health in a hybrid role spanning financial analysis and project management within the ambulatory network. Her work focuses on improving patient access and quality of care across physician practices and clinical departments, alongside detailed analyses of physician productivity and budget performance. On a day-to-day basis, Olivia supports healthcare clinic operations through large-scale data analysis, billing troubleshooting, vendor relations, and collaboration with healthcare administrators, physicians, and institutional leadership on broader hospital strategy. Prior to joining NYU Langone, Olivia served as a healthcare transformation intern at the Maryland Department of Health while completing her graduate studies at Columbia. This experience grounded her understanding of state-level healthcare systems, public and private insurance structures, and the critical role state health departments play in advancing public health.

Advice to Students:

Try as many internships as you can in college so you can see your preferences in terms of industry, culture, supervisor relationship, etc. Becoming comfortable enough to connect with your supervisors and professors is invaluable and will help you immensely. Having a professional that you can connect with and bounce ideas off of will help develop your interests and connect you to infinite possibilities in the future. Have fun in college—Vassar is an extremely special place, and you will want to cherish all of the memories you can make there.
