Melisa Calderon (she/her) is a Software Engineer based in the New York/New Jersey area with over two years of experience at AT&T. She develops full-stack web applications using React and Node.js, creating scalable, intuitive, and user-friendly solutions that improve day-to-day workflows. In her role, she collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to deliver new features, mentor colleagues, and promote best practices that enhance code quality and team efficiency. Melisa has contributed to key projects, including improving scheduling systems for technicians, and takes pride in building technology that makes a tangible impact. Outside of work, she enjoys crafting and frequently participates in local craft fairs with her roommate. She also embraces her Latin American roots and serves as treasurer for AT&T’s HACEMOS employee group, where she helps foster an inclusive and supportive community for employees across the company.

Advice to Students: 

Embrace rejection. Every “no” is a redirection, not the end of the road, but a signal to adjust, learn, and keep going. Even if it feels like you’ve missed your dream opportunity, it may not be a “no forever,” but a “not yet.” The only real failure is giving up. Keep moving forward, keep improving, and you’ll find yourself ready when the next opportunity comes.
