In the Revenue Operations department at Mintel, Lizy Yagoda (she/her) primarily works with small data (data sets with fewer than 10,000 records) to provide insight and strategic guidance to the senior leadership team. In this role, she rarely works on the same thing two days in a row. In the past year, she’s built custom tools for sellers to identify warm leads, transformed eight years of historical sales data into an interactive dashboard, and trained global employees on how to provide daily reporting to the varied teams at Mintel. Revenue Operations is not the career Lizy expected to find herself in, after majoring in history at Vassar and teaching the subject for several years after college, but she is often struck by how relevant it is to her work now. Both involve the practice of drawing narratives from large sets of information, as well as using evidence to develop convincing arguments.
Advice to Students:
Cast a wide net, hone transferable skills, and keep a brag file whenever possible. The absolute worst time to update your resume is when you suddenly need to, so make sure you are keeping it updated when you don’t need it to be.
