Ezekiel Maben (he/him) is a project manager and researcher with a focus on environmental policy and natural resources management. He currently works as the North America Events Manager for CDP, a nonprofit focused on promoting and enabling environmental impact disclosure for major institutions globally. Ezekiel coordinates CDP’s conferences, workshops, and roundtables for North America, and works to make sure that the organization’s different programming segments have adequate in-person event support. Before joining CDP, Ezekiel worked for two years as a project manager and newsletter writer at Capital for Climate, a climate finance startup, and completed an MPA in environmental science and policy at Columbia. He is most proud of his work as a program manager for three years at the volunteer management agency New York Cares, where he built partnerships with schools, universities, and parks throughout the city and led a food pantry distribution campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic. At Vassar, Ezekiel majored in history, took part in a lot of student theater, and helped organize No Such Convention, the last of which helped him get more jobs than anything he studied in his degree. When he’s not working, he enjoys cooking, running, reading science fiction, and making art with his friends.

Advice to Students: 

Your personal life and creative pursuits are just as important as your work life, and will provide you with a lot of meaning and support when your work is frustrating or boring (which it often will be). As you grow in your career, keep an eye on what forms of fulfillment you find through work, and which you find outside it. Knowing this will help you choose work that gives you a sense of accomplishment, and make space for other important things in your life.
