Brielle Quarles (they/she) is a certified nurse-midwife and board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner who is passionate about reproductive justice, health education, and promoting community engagement between healthcare providers and the communities they care for. At Vassar, they majored in biology with a correlate sequence in anthropology, which allowed them to think holistically and broadly about health and well-being. During their junior year at Vassar, Brielle’s interest in reproductive health and community health led them to an internship at a community health clinic, which awarded them the opportunity to engage with the greater Poughkeepsie community. In this role, Brielle worked with midwives, nurses, and community members to assess community understanding of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and develop recommendations to reduce incidence among the birthing people of Dutchess County. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at the Yale School of Nursing in May 2025. During her time at Yale, she worked as a research assistant, investigating maternal and newborn wellbeing following elective induction of labor compared to spontaneous labor. Brielle’s commitment to community health continues to this day at a community health center in New Haven, Connecticut, where they work in addiction medicine/substance use treatment as a registered nurse.
