Ali Cashin (she/her) is a Communications Analyst with the U.S. Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) Education, Workforce, and Income Security team. At GAO, Ali helps researchers communicate clearly with Congress and the public about how well federal agencies are working, and how they can improve. Before becoming a federal employee, Ali worked as a writer, editor, and strategic communications expert helping mission-driven organizations tell stories with impact. She has worked in higher education and political organizing, and was part of the communications effort supporting the U.S. Supreme Court marriage equality case.
Advice to Students:
Seek out feedback—of all kinds. Positive feedback is wonderful, but we all need to hear others’ perspectives about where we can grow and develop. The most successful people I’ve worked with ask for constructive feedback, really listen to it, and integrate it into their work.
