Advice to Students:

Today’s job market rewards flexibility and cross-disciplinary thinking. At Vassar, you’ll find many roles share core activities—research and analysis, writing and storytelling, project coordination, design, or user experience—regardless of the exact title. The same work appears under different titles across industries. Be open to fields and roles you haven’t pictured; your liberal arts training equips you to adapt, learn quickly, and communicate effectively. Don’t forget to tap into the alumni network. When job-hunting, prioritize function and outcomes over the title. Use informational interviews to understand a day on the job; seek internships or side projects that expose you to analogous tasks in new settings. Build a portfolio of transferable skills.
