Rob Phocas (he/him) serves as Executive Director of the Southeast Sustainability Directors Network (SSDN), where he leads strategy, member engagement, organizational partnerships, and the network’s efforts to advance equitable climate action across the Southeast. His day-to-day work focuses on strengthening collaboration among local government sustainability practitioners, supporting program delivery, and expanding resources that enable communities to accelerate climate solutions. Rob brings more than two decades of experience in sustainability, environmental policy, and corporate social responsibility. Prior to SSDN, he served as the founding Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at AvidXchange and earlier as the City of Charlotte’s first Sustainability Director, where he led the Strategic Energy Action Plan and major climate initiatives through the Bloomberg American Cities Climate Challenge. He also practiced environmental law at the U.S. EPA and in the private sector. Across roles, Rob is known for building strong civic ecosystems, driving data-informed impact, and fostering partnerships that advance environmental and social resilience.
